These "simulated" cloissone pins look as beautiful as real cloissone pins with an infinite assortment of colours available. Real cloisonné pins are painted with glass powder and baked. The difference between soft and hard enamel is soft enamel the paint is flowed into the pin and leaves a "dished" look to it. When painting hard enamel pins the paint is flowed to the very top of the pin leaving the pin feeling flat to the touch.

These are stamped pins with the paint actually being glass powders. Cloisonné pins have a highly polished finish that is extremely hard and durable. When fired at a high heat the powders turn to liquid and flow into the grooves of the pin. Colour choices are limited (Aoki colour chart) unlike all other process of pins (Pantone colours).

This type of pin is usually used for larger quantities because of the economic cost of iron. The process is the same as all other stamped pins, except the base metal is iron. These pins are great for designs with little detail.
